Generating new ideas using random word is very effective. These concepts enhance our brain to start evaluating and pop up with new ideas.

How it works

Random Words works in particular by making you go elsewhere for ideas,hence pushes you out of your current thinking rut. It uses the principle of forced association to make you think in new ways and create very different ideas.

How to use it

1. Find a random word

Find a random word that will be used as a stimulus for new ideas. You can do this in a number of ways, including:

• Look around you. What can you see? Can you see any words? What about things? What else is happening?
• Open a book at a random page. Run your finger around the page and stop at a random point. Look for a suitable word near your finger.
• Ask the people you are with to give you a random word.
• Select a word from a prepared list of evocative words (fire, child, brick, sausage, etc.)

2. Find associations

·         Think about other things about which the word reminds you.

·         Follow associations to see where they go. Think openly: associations can be vague and tenuous (this is creativity, not an exam!).

·         Write it down on a flipchart as your find it.

3. Use the associations to create new ideas

·         Now create new ideas by linking any of the associations with your problem.

·         Write the ideas as you move on to think out of Stage 2.

 

When to use it

Use it to stimulate open and divergent thinking and seek creative new ideas.

Use it to re-ignite creative thinking when you are running out of ideas.

Use it to get people out of a rut when their thinking is still rather conventional.

Scary Image

We have to create a scary image that will bring fear of the original character. The character given was a picture of a Kitten. Based on the Kitten, we have to show based on a. drawing of how those picture will bring fear.  The picture is as below.

Juxtaposition

Juxtaposition means placing things side-by-side. In art this usually is done with the intention of bringing out a specific quality or creating an effect, particularly when two contrasting or opposing elements are used. The viewer's attention is drawn to the similarities or differences between the elements.

Generally people consider Juxtaposition is synonymous to Contradiction, Paradox, Incongruent, etc. But more than that, Juxtaposition has a sense of nearness. Therefore, I conclude that Juxtaposition is contrasts that being placed together in close proximity, or side by side. They are being placed, so we can see the differences and the similarities. Simpler word; Applying Contrast side by side.

Example Of Juxtaposition

• youth and old age;
• servants and nobles;
• love-sick Romeo and fiery Tybalt;
• the noisy public feast and the private whispers of the lovers;
• Romeo's infatuation and Juliet's wit;
• the old nurse and young Juliet; and so on.

  Advantages Of Juxtaposition

• ·         Can have it for modification and adjustment factor.
• ·         Make a clear different of 2 objects, and learn from the object.
• ·         Make a correction from evaluation

Analogy

Analogy process of transferring information or meaning from a particular subject (the analogue or source) to another particular subject (the target), and a linguistic expression corresponding to such a process. In a narrower sense, analogy is an inference or an argument from one particular to another particular, as opposed to deduction, induction, and abduction, where at least one of the premises or the conclusion is general.

Exercise 2 Using the word combination, construct a sentence for each word combination

03 = Fly & Wind            - The Kite will Fly with the presents of the Wind.

13 = Flower & Wind       - The Flower flew away after the Wind blew it.

07 = Fly & Tree             - Superman couldn’t continue to Fly anymore while in the sky and fall into a Tree

Using the sentence constructed, draw an image for each sentence. I did this task in class and the following picture are my drawings.

Exercise On How Mergers Go Wrong

Apart from the above exercise we we told to do a merger of two animal into 1 body. I chose how would a dog look like with a eagle head. The outcome is as following.

Dog + Eagle = Dogle

It sounds interesting but obviously it is impossible.

My understanding regarding Mortar and Pestle – Essay

Mortar And Pestle is a device used for many needs in different type of field. A number of old mortar & pestles crafted from stone have shown up in archaeological sites in the Americas, Middle East, and Australia but simultaneously unknown. Mortar and pestle are known as the grinder/pounder. The name mortar and pestle gained it name from Middle English word derived from Latin word. The English "mortar" derives from classical Latin mortarium, meaning, among several other usages, "receptacle for pounding" and "product of grinding or pounding". The classical Latin pestillum led to the English "pestle", meaning "pounder".

Mortar and Pestle has its own characteristic. Mortar is a bowl shaped, heavy and strong. Besides, it has a rough surface outside and smooth inside. It is basically used has the crush container. On the other hand, Pestle is a light weight, club shaped, rough and long stone. It’s function is to grind and pondering particles. Mortar and Pestle comes in many materials such as Stone, Marble, Hard Wood used for grind pepper, rice and cereal, Porcelain to reduce particle size and Ceramic to grind small particles.

Mortar and Pestle functions influenced many people around the world. Example, in medical traditional convention way for crushing and mixing medicine, drug preparation and grind herbs. Hence, in many country and region Mortar and Pestle has different usage like in Japan, very large mortars are used with wooden mallets to prepare mochi. Granite mortars and pestles are used in Southeast Asia, as well as in India and China for food preparation, grind herbs and roots. In India, it's used extensively to make spice mixtures for various delicacies as well as day to day dishes. It is traditional in various Hindu ceremonies (such as weddings, and upanayanam) to crush turmeric in these mortars. Large stone mortars, with long (2–3 feet) wood pestles were used in West Asia to grind meat for a type of meatloaf, or kibbeh, as well as the hummus variety known as masabcha.

3 Creativity Ideas Of Uses Of Mortar & Pestle In The Future

In current modern world, Mortar and Pestle are less fascinating and people intend to use blender instead of wasting effort on this traditional item. So, in order to keep the Mortar and Pestle in memory and its function without changing its physical character, we should re-use it as following. The following images are caption of my ideas in drawing form. 

1)   Use it as a bowl to serve traditional, spicy and hot dishes.

-       A container to serve food in high class restaurant and hotel.

2)   Use it as a re-heating and cooking container in microwave and gas stove.

-       In India, people used to cook or re-heat food using container made from mud. The food use to be delicious because of the original container and traditional cooking. Mortar and pestle has the same characteristic as the traditional container.

3)   Can be used to plant small plant and store spices or even be used for decorative product in house leaving hall and kitchen and even in high class restaurant and hotel.
